Whole Body Cryotherapy in Boise
For decades, Europeans have assisted in healing their bodies with Whole Body Cryotherapy. At Active Health & Wellness, we are happy to bring you this innovative treatment, designed to support your body’s natural and unique ability to heal.
Inside the CryoSauna chamber, you are gently sprayed with a mist of Nitrogen. The Nitrogen is safe and non-toxic and makes up 80% of our natural atmosphere. This dry mist gently chills the skin while leaving your core warm, thus stimulating your body’s natural healing process.

Q | How long has Whole Body Cryotherapy treatment been in use?
A | Whole Body Cryotherapy was developed by scientists and physicians in Japan in 1978. Since then, it has been researched and refined in Japan and Europe. In many European countries it is as popular and available as massage therapy has become in the United States.
Q | Is Whole Body Cryotherapy safe?
A | Decades of studies from numerous institutions have shown it to be both safe and effective for a variety of conditions.
Q | How does Whole Body Cryotherapy work?
A | Whole Body Cryotherapy lowers skin temperatures for a brief period of 2-3 minutes. This dramatic cooling activates the immune system prompting every organ in the body to heal and repair itself. The results can stimulate dramatic increases in:
• Tissue Repair
• Immune Function
Q | How will the session feel?
A | The temperature levels in the Whole Body Cryotherapy are brisk but very tolerable. Many compare the sensation to standing in front of an open freezer door.
Q | How will I feel afterward?
A | The brisk exhilaration causes your brain to release high amounts of endorphins, which make you feel good. Some people report feeling energetic and full of life. The buoyant affects from each session peak after many hours and may last for weeks.
Q | How many treatments will I need?
A | Many feel significant benefits after just one treatment. For continued benefits, we recommend one treatment per week for one month, with continued treatments 1-2 times per month.
For relief of significant pain or skin disease, we recommend up to 10 treatments in close succession (e.g. 2-3x/week) for maximum results. For continued benefits, we recommend treatments 1-4 times per month.
Q | Is it possible to catch a cold from Whole Body Cryotherapy?
A | No. The metabolic increase will raise your temperature above normal for several hours. This is due to your body burning more calories and waste and should not be confused with a fever. The good news? The immune stimulation will make you less apt to become ill.
Q | Will I feel claustrophobic?
A | It is very rare to have any feelings of claustrophobia. The cabinet is very spacious and remains open on the top portion, leaving your head and upper shoulders free to move about. In addition, the door is never locked and you may step out at any time. Those who are typically claustrophobic do not generally have any problems.
Q | Can anyone have the treatment?
A | If you are pregnant, have uncontrolled blood pressure, uncontrolled heart disease, seizures, Reynaud’s syndrome, or acute infection we do not recommend WBC. Patients within the ages of 14-18 can be treated with parental consent.
